The HSS Framework and CCSS ask students to demonstrate both content acquisition and skill development. HSS teachers can incorporate alternative ways for students to showcase what they know in a digital learning environment. This UCD History Project workshop will highlight classroom-tested alternative assessments to excite your students through a Google Classroom lesson on Reconstruction that’s easily applicable for all grades.

Katharine Cortes is the Associate Director of the UC Davis History Project with a PhD in History from UC Davis. Her mission at the History Project is to build a community of educators centered on creating rich inquiry-based history-social science instruction.
