Teachers are asked to incorporate more reading and writing skills into their classrooms than ever before. In this workshop we will examine the cultural, linguistic, and cognitive demands of nonfiction texts and offer instructional strategies for teachers to help students successfully access demanding text. We will explore a variety of print and digital resources from Facing History’s Reconstruction study guide.
