In this amply-illustrated presentation, Dr. Patrick Hunt tracks Hannibal in his intrepid Alps march in 218 BCE with an army and elephants with field science methods that include geomorphology and soil chemistry as well as paleoclimatology and changing topographies due to long-term erosion in the Alps and in Italy where his battles took place. In his best-selling book Hannibal (2017),  Hunt has carefully documented how Hannibal studied his environment in order to use brilliant tactics against the Celts and Romans, weaponizing nature to be part of his arsenal.
